Aujourd’hui nous vous proposons une interview d’un groupe de rock coréen qui vient tout juste de sortir de l’ombre, il s’agit de IMGL !
Ce jeune groupe a débuté très récemment, en avril 2016 avec un premier mini-album, suivi ensuite d’un single. Ils ont actuellement sorti cinq chansons. Vous pouvez d’ailleurs retrouver plus de détails dans notre article coups de cœur sorti lundi.

Pourriez-vous vous présenter individuellement ?
Bi SuHyun : Bonjour ! Je suis Bi SuHyun. Je suis le guitariste de IMGL, et je fais aussi la cuisine ! Je suis aussi un chroniqueur d’art sur la page « The Artist ». Le chanteur ChangHoon et moi sommes amis depuis maintenant 12 ans !
Jeong ChangHoon : Bonjour la France ! Je suis le chanteur de IMGL, j’ai 25 ans. Bi SuHyun et moi sommes amis depuis 12 ans.
Kim DongHwan : Bonjour, je suis Kim DongHwan, le bassiste de IMGL. Je joue avec une basse à 6 cordes, ce qui est très rare. Je suis allé à la même université que Bi SuHyun.
Choi JaeHoon : Bonjour, je suis Choi JaeHoon, le batteur de IMGL. J’essaye de rendre J’essaye de rendre la batterie fun et chic avec des rythmes variés.
Comment le groupe s’est-il formé et a-t-il commencé à faire de la musique ensemble ?
Bi SuHyun : Après avoir terminé mon service militaire, j’ai joué de la guitare dans le groupe « Brother and Sister », mais le groupe s’est dissout en 4 semaines. Quand je me suis demandé ce que je pouvais faire, ChangHoon m’a proposé de faire un groupe ensemble. Il cherchait un groupe à ce moment-là. Donc nous avons pensé créer un groupe acoustique et chercher d’autres membres. Nous avons commencé ce groupe acoustique avec seulement deux membres, le chanteur et le guitariste !
Après avoir formé ce groupe, ChangHoon m’a présenté son nouvel ami JaeHoon.
Nous avons fait de nombreuses performances à trois. Mais on s’inquiétait de ne toujours pas avoir de bassiste.
A ce moment-là, j’ai entendu dire qu’il y avait un bassiste dans mon université. J’ai rencontré Kim DongHwan à l’université. Au final, nous avons formé IMGL avec quatre membres.
Quelles sont vos sources d’inspiration pour vos chansons ?
Jeong ChangHoon : J’écris les paroles juste en écoutant la mélodie et avec les sentiments qui me viennent à l’esprit sur le moment. En premier je pense à des images qui s’harmonisent avec la mélodie.
Bi SuHyun : mes chansons sont inspirées du jazz. Cependant les voicing de IMGL sont différents des autres groupes de rock. L’environnement qui nous entoure et les autres chansons sont aussi des sources d’inspirations pour nos chansons.
Quels sont vos artistes préférés ?
IMGL : Marty, Freidman, Adam Lambert, John Myung, ONE OK ROCK, CROSSFAITH the 1975, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maroon 5, the Used.
Est-ce que vous aimeriez faire des collaborations avec des artistes coréens ? Lesquels ?
IMGL : Oui, avec Rmantic Punch, Reflex, PIA.
Qu’est-ce que vous connaissez à propos de la France ?
Bi SuHyun : Quand j’étais en sixième année d’école élémentaire, je suis allé à Paris avec ma famille. J’ai vu la Tour Eiffel, je suis allé à Montmartre et j’ai marché le long de la Seine. J’ai été très impressionné par les variétés de cultures culinaires et les différents styles d’architecture !
Choi JaeHoon : J’aimerai beaucoup aller dans la rue des Francs Bourgeois, dans laquelle l’héroïne du film « Avant Toi » marche dans la dernière scène.
Vous aimeriez faire un concert en France ?
IMGL : Bien sûr ! Nous adorons partager notre musique et communiquer ensemble à travers la musique. Si nous en avons la chance, nous aimerions faire une performance au Bataclan. Nous aimerions aussi nous promener Place du Tertre et à Montmartre du côté de la Basilique du Sacré-Cœur.
Quels sont vos passe-temps ?
Bi SuHyun : la cuisine, et mon activité de chroniqueur d’art comme second travail (http://www.theartist.co.kr/).
Choi JaeHoon : Regarder des films et des dessins animés. J’aime les OST des différentes scènes des films et dessins animés. La musique et les images peuvent créer de grands effets de synergie. J’adore ça.
Jeong ChangHoon : écouter de la musique, et lire des livres.
Kim DongHwan : lire des romans.
Si vous deviez choisir une de vos chansons pour quelqu’un qui ne connaît pas encore votre musique, laquelle ce serait ? Pourquoi ?
Bi SuHyun : Je voudrais choisir « Hey You ». Toute personne écoutant cette chanson sera fascinée par la puissante intro. On jouait ce genre de musique quand nous avons commencé IMGL. Le refrain est accrocheur donc j’espère que beaucoup de fans suivront se refrain plus tard dans nos performances.
Avez-vous quelques mots à transmettre à vos fans européens ?
IMGL : Bonjour tout le monde en Europe ! Nous sommes le groupe de rock coréen IMGL. Merci d’écouter notre musique et de l’apprécier. Nous sommes heureux d’être connus à plus grande échelle cette fois. Nous allons continuer de faire de la bonne musique maintenant et toujours. Nous espérons que nous pourrons communiquer avec vous en faisant des performances en Europe un jour.

Today you can discover a new Korean rock band interview! This band just came out from shadows, let’s talk with IMGL!
This young band debuted recently, in April 2016 with a first EP and a single. They released five songs for now and their first two MVs were released a few days ago for the songs “Hey You” and “My World”.

Could you present yourself?
Bi SuHyun: Hello! I’m Bi SuHyun. I’m in charge of guitar in IMGL, and also in charge of cooking! 🙂 I’m also an art columnist of the page “The Artist.” I and vocalist ChangHoon have been friends for 12 years!
Jeong ChangHoon: Hello France! I’m a vocalist of IMGL, 25 years old. I and Bi SuHyun have been friends for 12 years.
Kim DongHwan: Hello, I’m Kim DongHwan, bassist of IMGL. I’m playing six string bass, which is very rare. I go to same university with Bi SuHyun.
Choi JaeHoon: Hello, I’m Choi JaeHoon, drummer of IMGL. I’m trying to make drumline fun and fancy with various rhythms.
How did the band form and start to do music together?
Bi SuHyun: After I was discharged from army, I played guitar in band “Brother and sister”, but it broke up in four weeks. When I was thinking what I had to do, ChangHoon told me to make band together.
He was finding a band at that time. So we thought we made an acoustic band and decided to gather other members. Therefore, we started an acoustic band with only two members, vocalist and guitar! (really :))
After making that band, ChangHoon introduced me his new friend, JaeHoon.
So we did many performances with these three members. However, we worried there was no bassist for a long time. At that time, Bi SuHyun heard that bassist can be found his university. So Bi SuHyun met Kim DongHwan at his university. After all, we made IMGL, with four members.
What are you sources of inspiration for your songs?
Jeong JangHoon: I usually write the lyrics just by listening melody and the feelings that pops into my mind. I firstly think of images which harmonize with melody.
Bi SuHyun: My songs are inspired by Jazz. IMGL’s codevocing is different from other rock band. Surrounding environment and other songs are also sources of inspiration for our songs.
Who are your favorite artists? (Korean and in the world.)
IMGL: Marty Friedman, Adam Lambert, John Myung, ONE OK ROCK, CROSSFAITH, The 1975, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maroon5, the used.
Would you like to do a collaboration with a Korean artist/band? Which artist/band would it be?
IMGL: Yes, with Romantic Punch, Reflex, PIA.
What do you know about France?
Bi SuHyun: When I was six grade of elementary school, I went to Paris with my family. I saw Eiffel Tower, I went to Montmartre and walked along the Seine River. I was really impressed with various food cultures and styles of architecture of France!
Choi JaeHoon: I really want to go to Rue des Francs Bourgeois, which the heroine of ‘Me Before You’ walked at the end of the movie.
Would you like to do a concert in France?
IMGL: Of course! We love to share our music and communicate through our music together. If we have a chance, we would like to have a performance at Bataclan. We also love to do busking at Plce du Tertre and Montmartre next to Cathedral.
What are your hobbies?
Bi SuHyun: cooking, columnist as my second job (http://www.theartist.co.kr/).
Choi Jaehoon: watching movies and animations. I like original sound tracks of each scene in movies and animations. Musics and images can create great synergy effects. I really like them.

Kim Donghwan: reading novels
If you had to choose one of your songs for someone who didn’t listen to your music yet, which one would it be? Why?
Bi SuHyun : I would like to choose “Hey You.” Anyone who listening to this song will be fascinated by the powerful intro. We played this kind of genre when we started IMGL. Chorus part is hook so I hope many fans will follow this hook part in our performance later.
Would you like to say a few words to your European fans?
IMGL: Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen of Europe! We are Korean rock band, IMGL. Thank you for listening and enjoying our music. We are happy to be widely known to you this time. We will make good music now and forever. We hope we can communicate closely through performances in Europe someday.

정창훈:안녕하세요 프랑스여러분 저는 IMGL에서 보컬과 미디작업을 맡고있는25살 정창훈이라고 합니다 기타 비수현과는 12년 친구사이입니다!
김동환:안녕하세요 저는 IMGL에서 베이스를 맡고있는 김동환이라고 합니다.보기 드문 6현베이스를 치고있고 비수현의 학교 동기입니다.
최재훈:안녕하세요 저는 IMGL에서 드럼을 맡고있는 최재훈이라고 합니다.IMGL에 3번째로 들어왔구요.다채로운 리듬으로 드럼라인을 보다 재미있고 화려하게 만드는데 힘쓰고 있습니다.
어떻게 임글 만들어졌고 음악같이하게됐나
비수현의 군대 제대후 브라더앤시스터라는 밴드에서 기타를 쳤었는데 4주간 합주만하다가 해체하였다.이제 뭐하나 생각할 찰나레 바로 정창훈한테 밴드를 하자고 연락이왔다.
그때 정창훈도 하던 밴드를 나오고 기타를 찾던 상태였다.
그래서 둘이서 “우리가 둘이서라도 어쿠스틱밴드를 해서 활동을 하고 멤버를 모으자!!”라는 생각으로 처음엔 보컬,기타가 멤버인 어쿠스틱밴드로 시작을 하였다.(정말로)
그러다 정창훈의 친구가 자신의 친구를 소개!최재훈이 들어오게되고 3인조로 활동을 하였다.
3인조로 하면서 공연은 하고있으나 베이스가 들어오지않자 비수현은“학교에서 보통 많이구하더라~”라는 말을 듣고 대학을입학!거기서 김동환을 만나게 된다.그렇게 해서 최종적으로 4명.지금의 IMGL이 만들어지게되었다.
노래영감은 어디서받나
가사같은경우는 주로 보컬이 쓰는데, 그냥 멜로디를 듣고 떠오르는 느낌대로 가사를 쓴다. 멜로디에 맞는 이미지부터 생각하는 편이다
비수현의 생각이 들어간 노래같은 경우 코드플레이적인 부분은 재즈적인 부분에서 많이 영향을 받았다.IMGL의 코드보이싱은 여타 다른 락밴드의 코드보이싱과 다르다.
그 외의 경우에는 주위환경,노래등에서 많이 영향을 받는다.

비수현:초등학교 6학년때 파리에 가서 몽마르뜨,에펠탑,새느강을 보고왔습니다.다양한 음식문화와 건축양식에 깊은 감명을 받았습니다.
최재훈:미비포유`라는 영화 마지막에 여주인공이 걸었던 프랑 부르주아 거리를 꼭한번 가보고싶다.
프랑스에서 콘서트하고싶은가?
당연!프랑스 사람들에게 우리의 음악을 나눠주고 같이 공감하며 소통하고싶다.기회가된다면 테르트르 광장이나 사크레쾨르 대성당옆에있는 몽마르뜨언덕에서 버스킹도해보고싶고 바타클랑 공연장에서 공연도 해보고싶다

다 곡스타일도 우리가 처음에 시작했던 장르와 가까우며 Chrous부분에 나오는 멜로디가 반복느낌이 강해서 여러팬들이 나중에 우리가공연했을때 따라불러줬으면 하기때문이다
