[INTERVIEW] Avec humilité et passion, les M.O.N.T nous font part de leurs projets les plus fous !

by Celia Cheurfa

Interview disponible en français en première page !

On the occasion of the concert hosted by HXL Events, Seboom and Seonshin on April 21st, South Korean group M.O.N.T agreed to share little stories and thoughts about the beginning of their career and their upcoming plans. Indeed, right after their debut last January, after one year of preparation, M.O.N.T – a group formed with three participants from the show MIXNINE – have embarked in a European tour they hope to be flourishing.

CKJ’s team had the opportunity to meet them in the interview right below! Enjoy!

M.O.N.T: Hello, nice to meet you!

Hello, can you introduce yourself?

M.O.N.T: Hello, we are M.O.N.T!
Narachan: I’m Narachan, the leader of the group.
Roda: I’m the rapper and the maknae Roda.
Bitsaeon: Hi, I’m the main singer, Bitsaeon.

How could you describe your music style?

Narachan: We are all different. I like funky music.
Bitsaeon: I love pop and R&B.
Roda : For me, it’s hip-hop and R&B.

As a group of three people, what are your strenghts?

Narachan: K-Pop groups are often composed of numerous people. We, as a three-people group, can more easily show our abilities. Each of us can perform his own talents.

You have your own style, between pop and ballad. What are the advantages?

Narachan: The first song we chosed to compose was a pop ballad, because fans were expecting us to do pop music. But for the upcoming music, we will put more energy because we like it. We have made our debuts with something smooth for the fans.

Before getting ready for your official debut, you have experienced busking. Can you please tell us a bit more about it?

Narachan: We have several experiences. We have practiced in the mountains et we were not used to meet a lot of people during our trainee’s era. Thanks to the busking experience, we have succeeded in getting closer with the audience. We have performed during a bibimbap festival for instance. People were eating and we came in to dance! (laughs) Then, we could see people’s reaction..

It’s no longer a secret that it is really hard for idols groups to debut. What made you keep going on this way?

Narachan: Before becoming idols, we wanted to become artists. We love music, and beyond becoming idols, our aim was to make music. We didn’t perservere, we just enjoyed the moment because we knew we were going to make music.

While composing, you mainly write about love. What are the other topics you would like to focus on?

Roda and Bitsaeon: If we are more famous, we would like to compose music to heal people during hard times and speak about those themes, helping people through our music because we are aware of famous artists influencing people to help them.

You seem ready to make great things. What are the craziest goals you wish to achieve? In 2019?

Narachan: Actually, we are already grateful to be able to do a European tour this big. We are truly moved. But if we wish for more, we would like to visit all the countries around the world… In Asia, there are a lot of cities we would like to perform in. Our ultimate goal is to perform on the MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards).
Roda: We would love to go to Billboards! (laughs)
Bitsaeon: We would like to become the ambassadors of Korea such as BTS, as our group’s name means “representatives of the State”. We wish to become real representatives of our country and be able to collaborate with American or foreign artists.

Which ones for example?

Roda: There are a lot. From Korea, Zico. From abroad, Bruno Mars and Ariana Grande. (laughs)
Bitsaeon: Can you advise us a French artist who could fit our style?
CKJ: Angèle, a Belgian singer, who sings in French and who is quite famous nowadays.
M.O.N.T: Ohhhh.

You are widely active on social networks. Is that essential for you?

Narachan: Yes, it is, because it does matter how we can communicate with fans when we can not meet them. Especially when we are going to a new country, if this country is huge, some of them can not come to our concerts. Social networks allow us to have a closer relationship with fans.

Can you tell us some French words you may know?

Narachan: Nous sommes M.O.N.T! Je suis Narachan.
Roda: Je suis Roda.
Bitsaeon: Je suis Bitsaeon.
Narachan: Merci beaucoup.
Roda: Je t’aime France. Ouhlala! (laughs)

Did you enjoy your trip in Paris?

Narachan: This is exactly what we have studied in books, at school when we were younger. Being able to see the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe is rewarding. It left us open-mouthed.

You are young and lucky to be able to embark on a European tour. What do you think about that? What are you expecting from this tour?

Bitsaeon: What we are expecting is that more people know is at the end of the tour. Wa want to promote our group.
Narachan: Even before the beginning of the tour, a lot of people were supporting us, and were listening to our music. We want to repay them by coming here.

Many people will find you out. Do You have a message for you French fans?

Narachan: In France, people were waiting for us. After our arriving at the airport, a lot of people welcomed us, and that left us moved.
Roda: This is true.
Narachan: Thank you for your love. We will do our best tomorrow so that you can enjoy the concert. Thank you for letting us coming to France, all of this is thanks to you. Fighting! I love you.
Roda: We have trained a lot, and we have prepared so many performances. We hope that people will enjoy it.

Please note that our live report and our picture of M.O.N.T’s show at the Trabendo are coming soon at CKJ! We can already told you the concert was a success, but we are not unveiling everything today… 😉 Stay tuned!

We would like to thank the interpret Han Lael, HXL Events, Seboom and SeonShin for giving us the opportunity to meet the group, and of course M.O.N.T, for their pleasant cooperation!
