Pouvez-vous commencer par vous présenter pour nos lecteurs ?
Chelln : Bonjour, nous sommes le groupe de J-Pop Haita-Amatubu ! Je suis la chanteuse Chelln.
Sekimoto Mio : Je suis Sekimoto Mio, au piano.
Yama : Moi c’est Yama, je joue de la basse.
Yuu : Je suis Yuu, le batteur.
Kanbanben : Je m’appelle Kanbanben et je suis guitariste.

Vous êtes les grands gagnants de Japan Expo ROCKS, pouvez-vous nous parler de cette aventure ?
Yama : On s’est vraiment donné à 100% dans cette aventure pour pouvoir réussir à décrocher notre place dans ce projet. Si ça n’avait pas fonctionné, tant pis. Il y avait du suspense jusqu’à la fin et on était vraiment impatients de connaître le résultat. Quand on a appris qu’on était sélectionnés à la fin de la compétition, tout le monde a été surpris mais aussi très content.
Kanbanben : On remercie vraiment le public français car on a appris que c’est plutôt lui qui a voté, et non le public japonais.
Votre musique raconte « l’histoire d’une fille », un concept un peu imagé. Qu’est-ce que ça signifie ?
Yama : On imagine l’histoire d’une fille qu’on place dans plusieurs situations imaginaires et on crée des musiques qui répondent et incarnent les émotions de ces différents scénarios.
Quelles sont vos influences musicales ?
Sekimoto Mio : Pour moi, c’est le groupe de rock japonais Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni.
Yama : Côté Japon, c’est pour moi le groupe japonais Sambomaster. Côté international, c’est plutôt Marcus Miller.
Chelln : J’aime le groupe d’idols BiSH. J’ai été très influencée par ce groupe et complètement touchée par la voix et l’expression de la membre Aina the End.
Yu : J’aime le groupe de visual kei Acid Black Cherry.
Kanbanben : Hum, c’est difficile de n’en choisir qu’un… Mais j’aime les Beatles !
Si vous deviez choisir une chanson pour définir le groupe, laquelle serait-ce ?
Haita-Amatubu : Notre dernière chanson SPIKA ? Ou DAY BY DAY ?
Chelln: La première chanson à laquelle j’ai pensée est Tarareba Quest. En tant que nouvelle chanteuse issue de la deuxième génération du groupe, c’est le premier morceau que j’ai enregistré. Mais c’est aussi parce qu’elle véhicule le message d’avoir le courage de faire les choses au lieu de regretter de ne pas les avoir faites. C’est une chanson encourageante.
Il s’agit de votre première performance en France, mais aussi en dehors du Japon. Qu’attendez-vous de votre passage à Japan Expo ?
Yama : On a envie que les fans apprécient la performance et se défoulent, qu’ils se laissent porter par la musique !
Les jaquettes de vos singles sont toutes illustrées, comment sélectionnez-vous vos collaborateurs ?
Chelln : En fait, on décide ensemble. Chaque jaquette a son illustrateur différent. On recherche les artistes sur les réseaux sociaux, tels que X ou Instagram, et on leur demande s’ils peuvent illustrer le single en leur faisant part de l’histoire, du concept et des émotions de chaque chanson.
Yama : On fait aussi écouter les morceaux aux artistes à qui on laisse une certaine liberté d’interprétation.
Haita-Amatubu : On fait aussi des jam sessions.
Avez-vous un message à faire passer à vos fans français ?
Yuu : Venez voir nos concerts en live. Amusez-vous bien ! Écoutez nos morceaux quand vous êtes rentrés chez vous !

Hi, could you please introduce yourselves first?
Chelln: Hello, we are the J-Pop group Haita-Amatubu! I’m the singer Chelln.
Sekimoto Mio: I’m Sekimoto Mio and I play the piano.
Yama: I’m the bassist, Yama.
Yuu: I’m Yuu, the drummer.
Kanbanben: My name is Kanbanben and I’m the guitarist.
Haita-Amatubu: Nice to meet you!
You are the winner of Japan Expo ROCKS, could you tell us more about this competition?
Yama: We really gave everything in this adventure to succeed in securing our place in the competition. If it didn’t work out, it would have been a shame. Suspense was up until the very end and we were really eager to know the final result. After that, when we found out we were selected, we were all surprised, but also very happy.
Kanbanben : We really want to thank the French audience, because we were told that it was the French fans especially who had voted, and not the Japanese ones.
Your music is based on « telling a girl’s story », and this concept could seem a little vague. Could you explain it to us?
Yama: We wrote the story of a girl who was placed in several imaginary situations and we created music that responded to and embodied the emotions of these situations.
What are your musical influences?
Sekimoto Mio: For me, it’s the Japanese rock band called Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni.
Yama: In Japan, it’s the band Sambomaster. If we’re talking on an international level, it’s Marcus Miller.
Chelln: I like the idol group BiSH. I’m very influenced by them and I’m moved by the voice and the facial expressions of the member Aina the End.
Yu: I like the visual kei band Acid Black Cherry.
Kanbanben: Hum, it’s difficult to pick only one… I love The Beatles!
If you had to choose only one song to define yourselves, which one would it be?
Haita-Amatubu: Our latest song SPIKA? Or DAY BY DAY?
Chelln: The first song that came to my mind is Tarareba Quest. It’s the first song I recorded as a new singer from the second generation of the group. But I would also recommend this single because it conveys the message that we have to do things instead of regretting not doing them. This songs gives courage.
It’s the first time you’re performing outside of Japan. What are you expecting from Japan Expo and the French fans?
Yama: We want fans to like our music and let off steem, that they let go completely!
Each one of your singles has an original illustration on the cover, how do you select the artists you work with?
Chelln: Well, we take the decision altogether. For each single, we hire a different illustrator. We look for artists on social media, such as X or Instagram, then we contact them and share the story, concept and emotions of the song, and we ask them if they can illustrate the single cover.
Yama: We also play the song to the artists, who are given a certain freedom of interpretation.
Haita-Amatubu: We also organize jam sessions.

Yuu: Come see us live and enjoy! Also, don’t forget to listen to our songs once you’re home!
